Fly Fishing Links

As a kid, I dunked worms in farm ponds.

As a teen, I discovered spin fishing.

As an adult, I've come to appreciate the art and science of angling with a fly rod.

As this page grows, it will contain links to some excellent resources for fly fishers, plus my own reflections on "the quiet sport."

spear fish hebi

I didn't catch it by flyfishing,
but this short nose spearfish is the largest fish I've ever caught. It measured 65 inches, longer than
my oldest son at the time. Japanese and Hawaiian fishermen call this fish  hebi. Beautiful!

Recent Flyfishing Adventures

August 2005: Back to Lake Sno-Tip in Huntington County, Indiana. Joshua and I caught many small bluegills. We also saw some interesting water snakes.

July 2005: Observed tilapia and peacock bass in the shallows of Lake Wilson on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, but no one seemed to be catching any.

June 2005: Caught several nice largemouth bass on a neighbor's farm pond. They like my new "fly-line hopper" fly pattern. I'll have to post the recipe.

May 2005: Fished the Holston River by canoe with my good friend Nick Cook. We had good success. The trout responded well to both dry flies and nymphs. Saw sulfurs, light cahills, and caddis. Hope to return in the fall.
